I. Objective of the Competition
The “Cyber Sousa” Awards of the Xiamen International Animation Festival are intended to identify outstanding animation works and designers in China by comparing Chinese and oversees animation works in order to enhance the development of the animation industry. To encourage the application of animation technologies in various industries and fields, the “Cyber Sousa” Awards also recognize outstanding applied animation works, such as advertising animations, demonstration animations, and Web animations.
II. Milestone Dates
- April 1, 2011 Announcement of the scope of entries solicited and the charter and rules of the competition;
- April 8 – August 31, 2011 Submission of entries from China and abroad;
- September 1 – September 15, 2011 Pre-selection and preliminary selection of entries received;
- September 18, 2011 Announcement of shortlisted entries;
- September 20 – September 30, 2011 Evaluation of shortlisted entries;
- On the night of November 7, 2011 (To be decided) “Cyber Sousa” Awards-presenting ceremony and announcement of winning entries III. Categories of the Awards
1. Long Animated Picture Award: works collected shall be made by movie theatre and shall not be shorter than 60 minutes.
2. Animated TV Series Award: works collected shall be relevant TV animation shot in several episodes.
3. Commercial Animation Award: works collected shall be demonstration animation, advertising animation, animation MTV or Games Opening animation, etc., which integrates various commercial elements and adopts the expression form of animation.
4. Popular Science Education Animation Award: works collected shall be those conveying knowledge of science and technology or coursewares adopting the expression form of animation and made for the purpose of teaching.
5. Mobile Animation Award: works collected shall be animation works specially made for mobile playing and with a time range from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.
6. Mobile Comic Award: works collected shall be comic works specially made for mobile playing. There is no limit to form and category.
7. Short Animated Picture Award: works collected shall be animation narrative films with a time range from 30 seconds to 30 minutes, including network animation.
8. Xiamen Award for Innovation: works collected shall only be animation entries addressing “economic and cultural construction” on the Western Taiwan Straits.
Entries ranking top 20 in a single award will take precedence to be recommended by the Organizing Committee to partners such as Mobile Animation Base of China Mobile and Animation Operation Center of China Telecom for consultation and cooperation.

Notes:
1. Awards such as “Best Long Animated Film And TV”, “Best Animated TV Series”, “Best Commercial Animation”, “Best Popular Science Education Animation”, “Best Mobile Animation”, “Best Mobile Comic” and “Xiamen Award for Innovation” in the domestic category are open only to enterprises and studios with an independent legal person status.
2. The Organizing Committee may adjust award arrangements as per suggestions of the Judging Panel and any adjustment will be announced on the official website.
3. Each winner will receive a “Cyber Sousa” trophy, a certificate and prize money.
4. The Organizing Committee will withhold individual income tax from the winner’s prize money on behalf of the winner.
