I. Objective of the Competition
The ¡°Cyber Sousa¡± Awards of the Xiamen International Animation Festival are intended to identify outstanding animation works and designers in China by comparing Chinese and oversees animation works in order to enhance the development of the animation industry. To encourage the application of animation technologies in various industries and fields, the ¡°Cyber Sousa¡± Awards also recognize outstanding applied animation works, such as advertising animations, demonstration animations, and Web animations.
II. Milestone Dates
April 8, 2010: Announcement of the scope of entries solicited and the charter and rules of the competition;
April 8 ¨C September 15, 2010: Submission of entries from China and abroad;
September 16-30, 2010: Pre-selection and preliminary selection of entries received;
October 15, 2010: Announcement of short-listed entries;
October 26-28, 2010: Evaluation of short-listed entries;
Evening of November 7, 2010: ¡°Cyber Sousa¡± Awards-presenting ceremony and announcement of winning entries.
III. Categories of the Awards
1. Film and TV Animations: Animated pictures (including long and short pictures, serial pictures, art pictures, and documentary pictures) broadcasted in movies or on television or released by an independent audiovisual product. They should appear in a 2D, 3D or freeze-frame format. A long picture is defined as a picture with a running length of not less than sixty minutes.
2. Game Animations: Interactive animations incorporated into games played on the Web, in mobile phones, in a hand-held device, on television, or in other digital products.
3. Web Animations: Non-game animations played through a Web browser or mobile phone.
4. Demonstration Animations: Animations used for demonstration purposes, such as architecture roaming, compute rendering of architecture, design demonstration, instructional courseware, event replays, and process demonstration.
5. Advertising Animations: Animation segments, including heads, trailers and tails, which are used in advertisements, film and television special effects, and program packaging.
IV. Individual Awards
The 2010 ¡°Cyber Sousa¡± Awards comprise seven awards in the domestic category, two awards in the overseas category, and one special award. Specially:

Notes:
1. The ¡°Best Long Animated Picture¡±, ¡°Best Animated TV Series¡±, ¡°Best Game Animation¡±, ¡°Best Advertising Animation¡±, and ¡°Best Demonstration Animation¡± awards in the domestic category are only open to enterprises and studios with an independent legal person status.
2. The ¡°Best Web Animation¡± and ¡°Best Short Animated Picture¡± in the domestic category, and the ¡°Best Short Animated Picture¡± and ¡°Best Animated TV Series¡± in the overseas category, are open to animation enterprises, studios and individuals.
3. The ¡°Xiamen Award for Innovation¡± is only open to entries themed about ¡°economic and cultural development¡± in the West Taiwan Straits Economic Zone.
4. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to adjust the awards at the recommendation of the Judging Panel. Any adjustment will be announced on the official website.
5. Each winner will receive a ¡°Cyber Sousa¡± trophy, a certificate of merit, and prize money.
6. The Organizing Committee will deduct individual income tax from the winner¡¯s prize money.
